McIntosh Poris Architects created a modern and natural interior design concept that complemented the 152 acre property in Northern Oakland County. Taking cues from the existing architectural plans and the homeowner’s preferences, MPA selected the interior finishes as well as fixtures and furniture for the foyer, great room, music room, powder room, master bath, master bedroom and kitchen, sunroom, guest bedrooms, lanai and pool.
The designers took great care in paying respect to the environment and selecting sustainable finishes throughout the home including cedar, rift cut white oak, steel, glass and limestone. MPA created an elegant powder room highlighted by a deep blue textured wall tile, wall mounted antique bronze plumbing fixtures and an onyx vessel sink. The kitchen included high end custom cabinetry featuring bamboo uppers and a matte charcoal finish on the lower cabinets, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances and a central island. The ground floor lent itself to an open floor plan, with a two story ceiling height in the Great Room, showing off the floating limestone hearth and mantel, and featuring a library on the mezzanine level which cantilevers into the space from above. Classic midcentury furniture is located throughout the home, including the sunroom and master suite. Other pieces were custom made by local artisans, such as the coffee table and end tables in the Great Room.
