Kid Rock's Made in Detroit

CLIENT: Olympia Development & Delaware North
LOCATION: Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, MI
YEAR: 2017

Kid Rock's Made in Detroit is a bar and restaurant inspired by the persona of Kid Rock. The design is "creatively confused" as coined by Kid Rock, who like the restaurant has Urban, Street, and Country influences. Music figures heavily into the design including a display of many items of Kid Rock's personal memorabilia and an iconic American flag speaker wall as the backdrop to the stage. The design is comfortable yet exclusive, intimate, authentic, American and Detroit.

There was a challenge of integrating security elements for the arena. Steel roll-up doors block the Via entries to the arena during security screening periods on event days, and provisions are made for magnetometer locations at entries. The design also had to accommodate operation on event days when throngs of people will need to access the bar for drink services to non-event days when it operates as a regular restaurant.

The concept integrates the owner’s needs of serving patrons food and drink on both game day and non-game days alike with Kid Rock’s desire for a fun atmosphere that he can come, hang out, and jump up on stage for an impromptu performance if he feels like it.

Kid Rock’s personal memorabilia is displayed throughout the restaurant and bar. A large American flag speaker wall is the iconic backdrop to the stage. A marquee sign at the front entry off Woodward Avenue advertises musical acts to perform. Exposed stainless steel beer conduits run beer from the cooler to the bar.
