McIntosh Poris Architects designed the 3,900-sf ground-floor open kitchen, restaurant, bar, lounge and restrooms as well as the lower-level prep kitchen and exterior façade of an Art Deco building that formerly housed a puppet theater. The building exterior features original limestone paneling and a distinctive curved corner indicative of the Art Deco Style. The newly-designed storefront system consists of blue-gray metal panels with traditional decorative pilasters between large glass-paneled windows which give presence to the restaurant from the Woodward corridor.
The open kitchen, restaurant, bar and lounge are designed to provide a casual, relaxed atmosphere which appeals to a large audience. Traditional fluted columns reflect the storefront design, and the existing black and white mosaic floor adds a twist to the eclectic dining room. Blue tile and a backlit mesh soffit highlight the open kitchen which also includes bar-height seating for an immersive dining experience. Blue and rust hues appear throughout the restaurant in the custom sofas at the window dining tables, curved banquette in the lounge and colorful barstools at the community tables.
